Kuari Pass trek Campsites
Gulling Campsite:
At an altitude of 9,600ft, it’s our first campsite of Kuari Pass trek. Located in between dense oak and rhododendron forests. From the clearing, you will catch the glimpse of great Himalayan peaks like Hathi Ghoda and Dronogiri. Evening at the campsites are magical with crisp air, bonfire and with lots of stories. Kuari Pass trek weather at Gulling campsite is pleasant but nights are chilly and cold.
Khualara Campsite:
It is known as the “meadows of wind” because at Khaulara campsite the strong breezes. Khullara campsites also offer the clearest stargazing spot on the Kuari Pass trail, where the milky way also appears on cloudless nights. The Khullara campsite is surrounded by 360° views of Himalayan giants like Mt. Nanda Devi, Kamet, Chaukhamba, Dronagiri, Hathi Ghoda, and Neelkanth. During Sunset it looks so unreal that it feels straight out of painting.
Tips For Handling Kuari Pass trek Altitude
Trekking at a high altitude can be challenging for a human body, especially for those who don’t trek regularly or have never been to such heights. But if you’ll keep some of the points in your mind while trekking you will never experience Mountain Sickness.
While trekking don’t rush or run, take your time and give body time to adapt to thinner air.
Drink plenty of water or take a lil sip of water in 25-30 minutes during the trek.
One of the major issues we tackle during trek is people consume alcohol during trek, which worsen their health at high altitude. Avoid smoking and drinking while trekking as they reduce oxygen level in the body.
If you feel any symptoms like headache, dizziness, or nausea stop walking and rest for some time.
Consume food which is light, easily digestible and provides high energy in the body. Dry fruits, nuts, protein bars are best source of energy while trekking
Use trekking poles as they help maintain balance on uneven trails.
At high altitude temperature drops quickly. So always dress in layers.
How to prepare Body for Kuari Pass trek altitude?
Strength training: While preparing your body add exercises for legs, core, and back muscles such as squats, planks, step ups. By strength training it will be easy for trekkers to uphill climbs and downhill descents with a backpack.
Cardiovascular fitness: Focus on cardio exercises like jogging, cycling, walking to improve stamina. As it will improve your lung capacity and endurance which will help the body adjust to lower oxygen levels.
