Imagine starting our trek in a lush, green pine and maple forest, and within 2-3 days, we suddenly find ourselves in a dry, rocky Himalayan desert. Often offered as the “Valley to Desert” trek. This sudden change is what makes the Hampta Pass trek so special and it's because of the big altitude gain that completely changes the scenery around you.
Our highest point of the journey will be 14,100 feet (4,298 meters) above sea level. The trek starts from Jobra located at 9,800 feet (2,987 meters). The trails are designed to gradually increase elevation over 3-4 days, allowing our body to naturally adjust according to the higher altitude. The slow and steady climb to higher altitudes is what makes the Hampta Pass trek the perfect beginner-friendly high-altitude trek.

How Altitude Affects Us:
As Hampta Pass trek is above 10,000 ft and after crossing 10,000ft the air becomes thinner and less oxygen. So here are some common symptoms one can feel:
Shortness of Breath
Mild Headache
Fatigue
Loss of Appetite

Acclimatization Tips during Hampta Pass Trek:
Don’t hide symptoms like breathlessness, dizziness, nausea or headache. Immediately inform your trek leader
Drink water in every 30 minutes to avoid dehydration.
Layer yourself properly.
Carry a basic medical kit with you during the trek in which you should keep medicines for headache, fever, motion sickness, etc.
Avoid Alcohol and Smoking because both reduce oxygen levels in the body.
