A Mesmerizing Journey: My Words Experience of Brahmatal Trek
Trekking has always been my go-to escape from the bustling city life, offering a chance to connect with nature and challenge my limits. Among the many trekking destinations in India, the Brahmatal Trek stood out due to its pristine beauty and the promise of an unforgettable experience. In this blog, I will share my words journey through Trekyaari, the Brahmatal Trek, focusing on key aspects like the weather, the importance of sunglasses, and sunscreen during the trek.
The Allure of Brahmatal:
Brahmatal, nestled in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, is a trek that entices adventurers with its serene beauty, lush forests, and breathtaking views. This trek is a perfect blend of challenge and tranquility. The real magic of Brahmatal lies not just in its pristine surroundings but also in the weather that changes its mood throughout the year. One of the key factors that can make or break a trekking experience is the Brahmatal weather. Brahmatal, being a winter trek, offers a unique weather experience that is quite different from the usual summer treks in the region.
Winter Wonderland:
I embarked on the Brahmatal Trek in the heart of winter, in December. The weather was cold, and the landscape was blanketed in pristine white snow. The crisp mountain air invigorated my senses as I began my journey from Lohajung, the Brahmatal base camp.
The temperature during the day ranged from -2°C to 5°C, making it essential to layer up with warm clothing. At night, the mercury plunged further to -10°C to -15°C, and I was thankful for my high-quality down sleeping bag that kept me warm.
Sunglasses - A Must-Have Accessory:
As I trekked through the snow-covered trails, I quickly realized the importance of having the right gear, especially sunglasses. The glaring winter sun reflecting off the snow can be blinding and harmful to your eyes. A good pair of sunglasses designed for trekking is a must-have.
I opted for polarized sunglasses with UV protection to shield my eyes from the harsh sunlight. These sunglasses not only reduced the glare but also enhanced the clarity of my surroundings, allowing me to fully appreciate the mesmerizing beauty of the snowy landscapes.
Sunscreen - Protecting Your Skin:
While it may seem counterintuitive to worry about sunscreen during a winter trek, it's a crucial part of your gear. The high-altitude sun, combined with the reflection of UV rays from the snow, can lead to sunburn and skin damage.
I packed a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF rating and applied it generously on all exposed areas of my skin, including my face, neck, and hands. This simple precaution prevented any sunburn and ensured that I returned from the trek with my skin intact.
The Changing Landscape:
The Brahmatal trek is known for its ever-changing landscape. As I ascended, the lush green forests gradually transformed into a winter wonderland. The snow-covered trees and frozen streams painted a picture-perfect scene that seemed straight out of a fairy tale.
Trudging through knee-deep snow added an element of adventure to the trek. The weather conditions, while challenging, created an ethereal atmosphere that I wouldn't trade for anything.
The Summit and Beyond:
Reaching the Brahmatal Summit was an exhilarating experience. The panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti, were a sight to behold. The weather at the summit was crisp and clear, allowing for unobstructed views that were well worth the challenging ascent.
While the weather presented its challenges, it also gifted me with moments of unparalleled beauty and serenity. As I left the snow-covered trails behind and returned to civilization, I carried with me not only memories of breathtaking landscapes but also a newfound appreciation for the significance of being prepared for whatever Mother Nature may throw your way on a trek like Brahmatal.
So, to all the fellow trekkers and adventure enthusiasts out there, remember to pack your sunglasses and sunscreen, for they are your silent companions in the journey of a lifetime, ensuring that you can fully embrace the wonder of the great outdoors.
